Ag Plus Inc., of South Whitley, has donated $10,000 to Huntington University's new Institute for Agricultural Studies.

"Ag Plus has a strong commitment to youth in agriculture and we appreciate the opportunity to participate in discussions regarding the development of this new program," says Jeff Mize, CEO of Ag Plus and member of HU's Agriculture Task Force.

"We see a need for Huntington University's unique brand of education. Big universities aren't for everyone.

"At Ag Plus, we're looking for talented young people for our company, and we believe this new program will produce quality graduates."

Huntington University's agribusiness program, which is under development, is intended to meet the growing need for agribusiness professionals and is anticipated to include concentrations in business innovation and entrepreneurship, communication and public policy, crop production, agricultural education and ministry and missions.

"Jeff Mize and Ag Plus continue to be an integral part of our work at Huntington University in establishing an agriculture program that meets the needs of our tri-state region," says Dr. Sherilyn Emberton, president of Huntington University. "Jeff and his wife, Gwen, who serves as an agri-science educator for Manchester High School, exemplify a legacy commitment to faith, family and farming. We remain extremely grateful to their ongoing support of the Institute for Agricultural Studies at Huntington University."

Launched in the fall of 2014, HU's Institute for Agricultural Studies promotes a Christian perspective on agriculture, which recognizes a responsibility to be good stewards of God's creation and to examine questions of sustainability and justice.
