McBride descendants meet at original family farm

The descendants of Don and Mary McBride gathered Aug. 16 at the McBride homestead, south of Zanesville.

Current owner Maurice McBride, of Irma, WI, allowed the 32 guests to tour the house, barn and garage and walk around the pond. The house is in bad repair and may be torn down soon.

David McBride and Polly Edwards Wymer put together the tour, which was led by David McBride. The tour leader also told stories of activities that took place on the farm many years ago.

Melba McBride Edwards displayed pictures and told stories, and Mary Lou McBride Burkhart brought a butter churn that was used for a butter-making demonstration.

The children of Don and Mary McBride were Darrell Botts, Cedric Botts, Douglas Botts, Roger McBride, Maurice Mc-Bride, Melba McBride Edwards, Mary Lou McBride Burkhart and David McBride.

Another gathering may be held in the fall.
