Treasurer’s office open Saturday morning to accept tax payments

The Huntington County treasurer's office will be open to take property tax payments on Saturday, May 10, from 8 a.m. to noon in the courthouse.

Taxpayers are urged to take advantage of the much shorter lines on Saturday as the due date has been extended to Monday, May 12, since May 10 falls on a weekend this year.

Property tax statements were mailed April 9.

If taxpayers do not have their tax statements, they may look online through the GIS-Beacon website at www.huntington.in.us for the tax amounts under "Tax History 2013 Pay 2014" and in "Notes" for 2014 return mail information.

Taxpayers who do not have a tax statement will need to come to the treasurer's office to pick up a tax statement and sign a change of address form, if necessary.

Payments can be made with a tax bill at local banks, including Beacon Credit Union, Bippus State Bank, First Farmers Bank & Trust, First Federal Savings Bank, First Source Bank, iAB financial bank and Lake City Bank.

Payments can be mailed to Huntington County Treasurer's Office, 201 N. Jefferson St., Room 104, Huntington IN 46750. Those mailing payments should enclose the tax bill and print their phone number on the check. If a receipt is requested, include a postage paid, self-addressed envelope.

Payments can be paid with credit or debit cards online or by phone, but not in the office. Go online to www.huntingtontax.net or phone 800-809-5849.

Payments can be made in the treasurer's office, located in Room 104 of the Huntington County Courthouse, during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 10.

The courthouse will be closed May 6 for Election Day.

The treasurer's office will also be closed May 13 and the rest of that week until all on time payments have been processed and balanced.
