Zanesville road repairs are on hold

The Zanesville Town Council discussed town road conditions during its meeting on Thursday, April 17.

At a previous meeting, Council President Patsy Brock had expressed a desire to contact a paving company and have them come through town and assess the roads.

With Brock absent from the meeting, council members John Schuhmacher and Danny Miller were unsure of Brock's progress on that front, but agreed that assessing the roads was a priority.

Schuhmacher said he would inspect them for the time being and that he and Miller would consult with Brock upon her return about possibly hiring a paving company.

Town maintenance worker Rod Miller requested guidelines from council as he searches for a maintenance truck to purchase for the town. Council agreed that the truck should be four-wheel drive, have an eight-foot or flatbed rear and a gas engine.

To pay for the truck, Clerk-Treasurer Julie Christian noted that the town had $35,000 in CEDIT monies available, as well as $14,000 remaining in the sewer fund that could possibly be transferred to the CEDIT account.
