Parkview YMCA announces upcoming events

The Parkview Huntington YMCA has several events coming up in the next few weeks, including a blood drive, the annual meeting, a canned food drive and fall session-two programs.

The blood drive will be held on Friday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the YMCA. It will be sponsored by the Rotary, Optimist and Kiwanis clubs. Call the YMCA to set up an appointment to donate blood. All donors will be eligible to enter into a drawing for a six-month family membership.

The YMCA annual meeting will be on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m. The evening will in-clude a short business meeting, an award presentation, election of new board officers and a benefit auction. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Contact the YMCA by Friday, Nov. 6, to make a reservation.

Teen Leaders Club is a new program at the YMCA this fall. One of the first projects for the Ten Leaders is a canned food drive. Barrels will be located at the YMCA for dona-tions from Nov. 2 through 20. The club has secured a person who will donate one pound of meat for each donated can. Once the food drive is completed, all food will be given to area food banks.

All fall programs will begin the week of Nov. 2. Classes include a wide variety of fitness and aquatic classes, cheerleading, gymnastics, group cycling and many others. Classes run seven weeks. Additional can be obtained by visiting the YMCA Web site at www.huntingtony.org.
