In other business during the Monday, Jan. 26, Huntington County Community School Corporation Board meeting, trustees acted upon several items.
These actions included:
• Receiving a list of individuals who passed their GED tests on Oct. 7 and 8. They included: Matthew Dominguez, Michael Graft, Jennifer Overby and Jacob Price, all of Huntington; John Nichols and Khristina Wyche, both of Andrews; Joseph Burnsworth, of Lagro; Nicole Hall, of South Whitley; and Adam Mendenhall, of Bluffton.
• Approving a field trip request submitted by Michael Jarrett on behalf of the Huntington North High School Machine Trades program to participate in the Indiana Statewide Machine Trades Contest Feb. 27-29 at Vincennes University.
• Approving the hiring of three new classified employees - Lisa Hoch and Erick Wolfmeyer, bus drivers; and Colleen Long, lunch/recess assistant at Lancaster Elementary.
• Approving the hiring of two new extracurricular activities employees - Jeffrey Johnson, middle school diving coach at Salamonie School; and Kurt Nussbaum, seventh-grade boys' track coach at Salamonie School.
• Approving one leave of absence - Brooke Lyons, a kindergarten teacher at Lincoln Elementary, from approximately April 13 through the end of the 2008-2009 school year.
• Approving the donation of a Target grant to Riverview Middle School in the amount of $800 for use toward the seventh-grade class field trip to the McMillen Center. Teacher Vicki Giordano applied for the grant.

• Feb. 9 - School board meeting at the Administrative Services Center, 7 p.m.
• Feb. 12 - Breakfast and visit at Riverview Middle School, 7:20 a.m.
