Zanesville to pay ball park's electric bill

The Zanesville Town Council made a $1,000 donation to the Zanesville Lions Ball Park electrical bill during its Thursday, Jan. 16 meeting.

Council made the donation in response to a letter from the Zanesville Lions Club requesting monetary assistance for 2014. The $1,000 total will be paid directly to the park's electricity provider, United REMC.

A member of the club raised a concern during the meeting that council's donations had been going to the wrong electricity account when council had made similar donations in the past. With two meters at the park, one serving the Lions and the other serving the park, council stated it would verify which account was the park's and make the donation to that account.

In other business, council reminded Clerk-Treasurer Julie Christian to make the town's annual deposit of $1,500 into its account for Americans with Disabilities Act projects and Town Marshal Carl Collins was authorized to collect quotes for a new computer tower for the police department.
