Boundaries modified for two voting precincts in Huntington
Monday, October 14, 2013 7:14 AM
Two voting precincts in the city of Huntington have had slight changes to their boundaries, the Huntington County Clerk's office has announced.
The voting precincts now line up with districts for the Huntington Common Council, which were changed in 2012 so that each council district would contain approximately the same number of people. Those changes in council districts split two voting precincts.
To avoid confusion, the precinct lines for the affected areas have been shifted to align with the council district boundaries. Two small areas from Huntington Precinct 3 were moved to Huntington Precinct 2A, and another small area was moved from Huntington Precinct 2A to Huntington Precinct 1.
About 120 voters are affected by the change. All affected voters will receive cards by mail, indicating that their registration records have been updated with the change in precinct.
The new precinct and polling location is listed on the card. Voters are asked to keep the cards for their records.
Anyone not receiving a postcard can assume that their precinct and polling location are unchanged.
For information, call Pam Fowler, voter registration deputy, at 358-4820.
