Change in tornado siren testing
Thursday, August 29, 2013 7:53 AM
Starting in September, Huntington County's tornado sirens will be tested twice a month, Huntington County Emergency Management Director Lindsie Goss has announced.
The sirens will be tested on the first Monday of each month and the first Saturday of each month, both days at noon, beginning the week of Sept. 1.
For many years, the sirens were tested at noon on the first Wednesday of the month. That will no longer be the case.
Goss says the new schedule will allow the sirens' audibility to be tested during the work week as well as on the weekend.
