Leadership board sets dates for 2014 academy

The Huntington County Leadership Board of Directors announces the dates for the 2014 academy.

The academy will begin on Jan. 14, 2014, at 8 a.m.
A total of nine bi-weekly class sessions will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Horace Mann Educational Center.

Ed Vessels is the class facilitator.

Graduation ceremonies will be May 20, 2014.

The purpose of this class is to help the participants enhance their leadership skills and use those skills to maintain and improve the quality of life in Huntington County.

Students will learn about their personality styles and how their personalities differ from others after taking the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.

They will also perform exercises and class discussions on team building, public speaking, "136 Effective Presentation Tips" and two books - "Good to Great and the Social Sector" and "Unwritten Laws of Business."
Students will also facilitate a panel discussion and organize and execute a public service project for the community.

There is a tuition fee per student.
