A gazebo honoring the late Robert and Vera Deal will be dedicated on Aug. 17 during the Andrews Summer Festival.

The gazebo is located at Riverside Cemetery, in Andrews, where both Mr. and Mrs. Deal are buried. Festival events at the cemetery will also include a historical program and an opportunity for visitors to scour cemetery records. Refreshments will be served beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The gazebo dedication, with members of the Deals' families in attendance, will take place at 5 p.m.

Robert Deal, who died in 2012, was the former owner of Deal Funeral Home in Andrews and Deal and Robbins Funeral Home in Huntington, now known as Deal-Rice Funeral Homes.

Vera Deal, who died in 2011, taught at Andrews Elementary School, South Upper Junior High School and Riverview Junior High School.

The Deals lived in the Andrews area.

Following the dedication, local historian Jean Gernand will present a "Walk in History" at the cemetery.

Gernand will share facts and stories about notable Andrews residents who are now interred at Riverside Cemetery.

Cemetery records will be available after the program for anyone wishing to locate the graves of family members.
