Announce hydrant paint theme

Huntington Arts Initiative, Inc., founders Debbie Dyer, Rich Najuch and Ann Siegfried announce that the theme of this year's fire hydrant painting project will be "Lights, Camera, Action!"

Artists will choose well-known movies and paint their hydrants with things that can be associated with the specific movies. All of the hydrants to be painted are in and around the downtown Huntington area.

This public art project is in keeping with the mission of the Arts Initiative to educate, to enrich and to entertain. In addition, it will promote arts and culture, provide a showcase for local and area artists and increase pedestrian and retail traffic in the downtown area.

This is the fourth year for the hydrant-painting project. Previous themes include "Dog Days of Summer," "Down(town) By The Sea" and "A Is For Alphabet."

Local photographer and videographer Rob Myers will once again produce a video based on the project. Last year's "A Is For Alphabet" video has had more than 900 views. It can be found on either the Arts Initiative or LaFontaine Arts Council Facebook pages.

Plans for opening day of "Lights, Camera, Action!" will be announced soon.
