Gargiulo graduates from Olivet

Huntington native Matthew Gargiulo graduated from Olivet Nazarene University (ONU), in Bourbonnais, IL, on May 4.

Gargiulo earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education.

At ONU, Gargiulo graduated Magna Cum Laude, received the ONU School of Education's Student of the Year Award, served as the Vice-President of the Nu Beta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, was selected by Who's Who Among American College & University Students 2012-2013, interned at South Pointe Youth for Christ as the Mentoring Program Coordinator at Kankakee Junior High School, served two years as a freshman Resident Assistant, played trombone in the ONU Marching Band and Concert Band, traveled twice to Africa through Mission in Actions trips, served as a camp counselor for three summers at Christian camps in Illinois and Michigan, was accepted into the 2013 Corps of Teach For America, student taught at John L. Nash Middle School in Clifton, Illinois and served as a piano accompanist at various churches, schools and community productions.

He is a 2009 graduate of Huntington North High School.

Gargiulo is the son of Richard and Kay Gargiulo, and the grandson of Carol Zurcher, all of Huntington.
