Trenton Kern of Huntington has been awarded the 2013 Frank L. Pyle Sr. Scholarship through the Huntington County Community Foundation.
Kern, a graduating senior at Huntington North High School, plans to attend Trine University to study mechanical engineering. He is the son of Rae Anne and Paul Kern.
Kern, a National Honor Society member, has been involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Athletic Board and math tutoring. He was a four-year member of the HNHS basketball and football teams, serving as captain of both teams his senior year. His volunteer work has been with the Poneto Methodist Food Pantry and Love INC.
The Frank L. Pyle Sr. Scholarship was established by Ruby Pyle in 2003 to assist Huntington County students pursuing a two or four-year degree in electronics at one of the following schools: Ivy Tech, Trine, Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne or Rose-Hulman.
