Back 2 School Blast designed to bring together those serving kids

Crossroad Connections is seeking businesses, churches and non-profit organizations to take part in a Back 2 School Blast on Aug. 10 at Hier's Park.

Crossroad Connections Director Valerie Fields says the event is designed to connect community organizations and businesses with parents in need of school supplies and other school-related items.

Businesses and organizations can donate candy and school supplies, set up a booth at the event, participate in the parade or work in concessions.

Each booth should have a game for the students to play and give away school supplies as prizes. Booths should be decorated in a "Blast from the Past" theme and prizes will be awarded for booth creativity and other categories.

Discount haircuts and family photos will be available.

Fields says the day will begin with a parade and a car/motorcycle/bicycle show. Other events will include a youth basketball tournament and a Super Soaker blast. Concessions will be available along with a clothing trade, rummage sale and an evening concert by Classic Voice.

Organizations that already have a back-to-school event planned are invited to make that event part of the Back 2 School Blast, Fields says.
