Construction projects affecting driving in county

Two ongoing construction projects are affecting traffic on state highways in Huntington County.

Jefferson Street (U.S.-224) is closed in both directions at the railroad tracks near the courthouse so that two railroad crossings can be rebuilt.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says the crossings are being rebuilt to improve the driving surface for motorists. The work is expected to be complete by Friday, April 19, weather permitting.

Both lanes of Ind.-9 over the Salamonie River, near Mt. Etna, will be intermittently restricted to allow maintenance work to be done on the bridge.

Flaggers will direct traffic while the work is in progress. The project is expected to be completed by April 26, weather permitting.
