Temporary lane closure on Ind. 5 across dam
Thursday, April 4, 2013 7:54 AM
A temporary lane closure of Ind.-5 across the J. Edward Roush Lake dam, in Huntington, started April 1. The closure will continue into July or August.
The Army Corps of Engineers Roush Lake Natural Resources Project Manager Matthew Palmer said that one lane will be shut down with traffic minimally disrupted. However, some delays to cross the dam are expected. The Corps is asking the community to be prepared for delays and have patience traveling while the traffic patterns across the dam are temporarily changed.
The routine work is necessary to maintain the middle of the dam's spillway. The main components of the dam are to be painted, which in turn assures the prescribed dam operations are occurring according to dam safety standards.
The construction company that is working the J. Edward Roush dam work is T&T Construction Enterprises LLC, Leitchfield, KY.
