St. Joseph Church to co-sponsor mission

St. Joseph Catholic Church, Roanoke, and St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Parish, Nix Settlement, will jointly sponsor a 2013 church mission March 3 through 6.

The community is invited to attend any or all of the sessions to share in food, fellowship and faith in celebration of the Year of Faith declared by Pope Benedict XVI.

The mission will be opened by Bishop Kevin Rhoades, leader of the Fort Wayne-South Bend Cath- olic Diocese, during the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, March 3, at St. Joseph in Roanoke.

The mission will continue Sunday evening at St. Catherine of Alexandria, in Nix Settlement. A soup dinner will be served in the church hall at 6 p.m. Msgr. Bernard Galic, pastor of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Yoder, will speak on faith at 7 p.m.

St. Catherine will also host the mission on Monday, March 4. A soup dinner will be served in the church hall at 6 p.m. Deacon Jim Fitzpatrick, of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, will speak on prayer at 7 p.m.

The sessions will move back to St. Joseph, in Roanoke, on Tuesday, March 5, for a soup dinner in the church hall at 6 p.m. Rev. Drew Curry, pastor of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in North Manchester, will speak on penance at 7 p.m. An opportunity for reconciliation will follow his talk.

Rev. Dale Bauman, pastor of St. Joseph and St. Catherine churches, will close the mission on Wednesday, March 6, with a Mass at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph. A reception will follow Mass in the St. Joseph Parish hall.

St. Joseph Catholic Church is located at 641 N. Main St., Roanoke.

St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church is located at Ind.-9 and 1000S, Columbia City.
