Crossroad Child & Family Services, a treatment center serving troubled children and their families, has opened a satellite counseling office in Huntington.

Crossroad Counseling will provide behavioral health services for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.

"It's part of our strategic plan to take services to other communities that are perhaps underserved," said Randall J. Rider, chief executive officer for the Fort Wayne-based agency on its decision to expand. "Secondly, Huntington, because there are people here that said, ‘We could use you down here.'"

A point of emphasis at the office, says Rider, is to offer flexible hours that correspond to people's schedules.

"People, especially working people, want to be able to access services in a way that gives them less disruption in their lives, so we would like to accommodate that," he says.

The office has the space to run three sessions simultaneously and will be staffed by therapists from the Fort Wayne office on an as needed basis as a caseload is built up.

"Eventually, as we have an established business here, I'd like to have staff that are permanently based here in Huntington," says Rider.

Many insurance plans, including Medicaid, may be used for therapy services.

"We're excited to be here and looking forward to beginning services," says Rider.

Crossroad Counseling is located at 818 W. Park Drive, Suite A, Huntington. For more information about Crossroad services or to schedule an appointment for services, contact the Crossroad intake office at 800-976-2306, ext. 2060.
