Sam Daugherty (left) and Adam Wixted battled it out for the championship in the Huntington City-Township Public Library's chess tournament on Tuesday, Jan. 29. The evening of chess, which was open to students in grades 6-12, included instruction by Jack Oberholtzer. The final game ended in a win for Daugherty, an eighth-grader at Riverview Middle School, who is now the library's reigning chess champion. Wixted, the runner-up, is in eighth grade at Huntington Catholic School.
