Library to offer series of workshops on using digital devices for access

The Huntington City-Township Public Library will offer a series of workshops offering information on using digital devices to access library collections at the main library in Huntington and the branch library in Markle.

The "Get eBooks @ Your Library" workshops at the Huntington library will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m.; Monday, Feb. 11, at noon; and Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m.

In Markle, a workshop will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m.

Those attending should bring their reading device - smartphone, iPad, e-reader, tablet or other device - and any questions they may have. Some devices, including eInk versions of Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch, require users to check out library e-books using a computer. Those patrons are encouraged to bring a laptop, if one is available.

Registration for the workshop is suggested, but is not required. To register, call the main library at 356-0824 or the Markle library at 758-3332.

In addition, the Huntington library will host a Digital Learning Day on Wednesday, Feb. 6, offering help with all types of digital technology.

Throughout the day on Feb. 6, library staff members will be available in the foyer to answer questions about technology, including computers, tablets, e-readers and scanners. They can assist with web browsing, setting up and using email, using Windows 8 and more.

Anyone who lives or owns property in Huntington Township or the town of Markle is eligible for a library card at the Huntington City-Township Public Library, entitling them to check out both digital and hard copy items from the library.
