Gardeners to explain herb use

The first of the 2013 Public Education Series sponsored by Huntington County Master Gardeners will be held on Thursday, Feb. 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the Huntington City-Township Public Library.

Two master gardeners, Liz Saunders and Sharon Ernst, will present "Using Herbs in Everyday Life." Saunders will discuss cooking with herbs and present hearty winter soups and other winter comfort foods made with herbs.

Ernst will discuss the use of herbs in moth proofing and as insect repellents. She will explain how to grow herbs for a healing garden and how to dry them for use in potpourri.

The second series will be held on March 7 at the library. The topic will be announced at a later date.
Future topics will include how to hybridize and the making of garden troughs.

Interested persons should contact the Extension office at 358-4826.
