Gifts to renamed HU scholarship fund on rise

Contributions to the Huntington University scholarship fund are up 6 percent over the past 12 months, an increase HU officials attribute to the fund's name change.

Formerly known as the University Fund, the rebranded Forester Fund helps underwrite scholarships used for institutional aid.

"At Huntington University, we are the Foresters. The rebranding of this fund was the perfect way to promote giving in a way that will directly impact our students," says Vincent Haupert, vice president for advancement.

Each year, more than 90 percent of Huntington students receive some sort of financial aid. Scholarships financed by the Forester Fund include the Presidential Scholar award, departmental scholarships, the Horizon Leadership scholarship and the Huntington University Grant.

Awards range from $500 to $11,000. In all, $7 million is awarded each year in institutional aid.
