The Boys & Girls Club of Huntington County and Unilever combined efforts to help encourage healthy self-image in teens by conducting a Self-Esteem and Body Confidence Workshop at the club, in Huntington, on Thursday, Nov. 29.

In support of the Dove Self-Esteem Movement, seven Unilever employees volunteered to conduct the workshop. The event included breakout sessions to discuss what it means to be beautiful and how low self-esteem rates in teens can be caused by the images they see on a daily basis. Presenters revealed how makeup and digital editing used by some media can create unrealistic images that teens use to evaluate their own beauty.

Activities participated in by the teens allowed them to encourage others and set goals to build their own self-esteem.

The evening ended with club members having ice cream donated by Unilever and each teen left the workshop with a Unilever gift bag filled with personal care products such as Dove and Axe.
