Local girl wins state singing contest recently

Alyssa Kissell, of Huntington County, won first place in the NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) Indiana Chapter State Auditions, held Nov. 3 at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion.

Kissell sang "Alma del core," "Come Ready and See Me" and "My New Philosophy" from "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" to win the high school classical division.
This was Kissell's second NATS title. In 2011, she won the 16-and-under division.

Kissell is a high school senior at her home school and participates in the performing arts through voice, piano, classical ballet and community theater.

She is the daughter of Neil and Amy Kissell, of rural Huntington County.
