Top reader

Gaige Robin (second from left), a student at Crestview Middle School, read more than 54 books during the 2012 Summer Reading Olympics, making him one of the top 100 readers in the national program. With him are (from left) Crestview Principal Charles Werth; Trace Hinesley, director of special programs for the Huntington County Community School Corporation; and Brad Ludlow, assistant principal at Crestview. More than 35,000 students and 1,450 schools participated in the program, which was open to schools that receive federal funds through the Title I program designed to help low-income students. Students at Andrews, Flint Springs and Lincoln elementary schools, along with members of the Boys & Girls Club of Huntington County, read more than 2,200 books in conjunction with the program. Robin attended Flint Springs last school year.
