HHS Class of 1962 celebrates 50th reunion

The Huntington High School Class of 1962 held its 50-year reunion Sept. 14 and 15.
Class members held a tailgate party and attended the homecoming football game between the Huntington North High School Vikings and the Anderson Indians on Sept. 14.
Class of '62 football players Bob Minniear, Dick Landrum, Jim Schaefer and Dave Funk, manager Bill Circle and cheerleader Penny Glass Plass were recognized before and during the game.
A brunch was held Sept. 15 at the Huntington, followed by a tour of the Huntington Theatre. Three optional tours of a "man cave," the former Central School building and Huntington North were offered in the afternoon.
The evening began with appetizers on the banks of the Wabash River, followed by dinner in the Forks of the Wabash Historic Park great room. John Kiracofe served as master of ceremonies. Bill Sunderman gave the invocation and read memories from class biographies.
Awards were given to Jerry Shellenbarger. of San Jose, CA., farthest traveled, and to John Repp, of Seattle, WA, for traveling almost the farthest.
Ralph and Martha Pohler Kelsey received awards for being married the longest and having the most grandchildren, while Judy Snider Harris received the award for most great-grandchildren.
Attending from Florida were: Dennis and Janis Daly, of Gainesville; Diana Feighner Slone, of Wildwood; Carl and Mary Swihart, of Northport; and Bob Minniear, of Lakeland.
Coming from Illinois were Tom and Carol Kriegbaum Butler, of Hindsdale; Jerry and Jane West Lewis, of Joliet; Judy Rich Malchin, of Wheaton; Richard Coyle, of Deerfield; and Jim Schaefer, of Effingham.
Driving from Ohio were Larry and Hope Helvie DuCharme, of Holland; Stan and Lydia Robbins Ferris, of Oakwood; and Joe and Kathleen Ade Petsche, of Cincinnati.
Visiting from Arizona were Bill and Penny Glass Plass and Becky Dillon Steinmetz, all of Sun City West.
Arriving from Texas were Don Draper, of Irving, and John and Sharon Kiracofe.
Bob and Pat Hare Allen came from Murfreesboro, TN.
Jerry and Daphne Shellenbarger arrived from San Jose, CA; Dick Landrum, from Lamberville, MI; Mary Ann Marks, from Colorado Springs, CO; and John Repp and Cindy Cold, from Seattle, WA.
