The Huntington Fire Department has received a $1,000 fire prevention grant from FM Global, an insurer of large businesses. FM Global is based in Johnston, RI.

The award will be used to assist with fire prevention activities by educating the community and reducing the number of fires.

Fires continue to be the leading cause of commercial and industrial property damage worldwide, FM Global says, adding that the majority of that damage is preventable.

The company's Fire Prevention Grant Program awards grants quarterly to fire departments and other organizations that best demonstrate a need for funding and where dollars can have the greatest impact on preventing, preparing for and controlling fire in the community.
