Two downtown businesses are the winners in the eighth annual Heritage Days Window Display Contest using the theme for this year's Heritage Days, "Celebrate Our Town."

The Huntington County Historical Society Gift Shop, using a window provided by Rodger's & Vivian's Income Tax Service, 323 N. Jefferson St., won first place in category A, which is the division for home décor and gift shops.

Rodger's & Vivian's Income Tax Service, 323 N. Jefferson St., won first place in category B, which is mostly a non-retail division.

The first place winning business in each category will have its name engraved on a traveling plaque to be displayed in the business until next Heritage Days.

Second place winners were Wedding Rentals And More, 515 N. Jefferson St., Suite 11, in category A; and The Coach House Day Spa, 54 W. Market St., in category B.
Other participating businesses included The Party Shop, 413 N. Jefferson St.; Today & Yesterday, 445 N. Jefferson St. and William E. Abbott with a window provided by Rod-ger's & Vivian's Income Tax Service, 323 N. Jefferson St.

Susan Taylor and Laura Renz, both artists and designers, judged the windows on creativity, originality, visibility, use of color, themeßπ and the inclusion of required contest elements based on a point system.

Judges say they particularly liked that the winning windows focused on Huntington.

The Window Display Contest was organized by the Huntington County Visitor & Convention Bureau.

Huntington Heritage Days is organized by the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by TCU.
