Spahr sisters lead HNHS girls to regional cross country crown

Second and fourth place finishes by the Spahr sisters on Saturday, Oct. 17, led the Huntington North High School girls' cross country team to the Marion Regional championship.

Gretchen Spahr took second place, in 19:08.01, and Natalie Spahr nabbed fourth, in 19:15.30, to help HNHS to a score of 37 points, 21 fewer than runner-up Columbia City.

Senior trio leads HNHS boys to seventh cross country regional in last nine years

The senior trio of Ross Ochs, Josh Graham and Austin Roberts finished in the top six runners on Saturday, Oct. 17, to lead the Huntington North High School boys' cross country team to its seventh regional title in the past nine years.

Ochs, Graham and Roberts finished second, fourth and sixth, respectively, to lead HNHS to a team total of 38 points, 16 ahead of runner-up Homestead, which had the first and third place runners but no one else among the top 10.

Shoemaker scores 3 TDs as Vikings hammer Muncie Central, 35-6

Austin Shoemaker returned from a one-game absence to rush for 101 yards and three touchdowns and lead the Huntington North High School football team to a 35-6 victory over host Muncie Central on Friday, Oct. 16.

The Vikings broke open a scoreless contest with three touchdowns in the second quarter on the way to improving their record to 6-3.

The Huntington North girls' cross country team captured the Marion regional title at Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Huntington North boys' cross country team took home the Marion regional title at Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday, Oct. 17. HNHS girl booters dominate field against Jay County at sectional

The Huntington North High School girls' varsity soccer team dominated the field to shut out Jay County 5-0 in the second round of the Indiana High School Athletic Association Sectional at Marion on Thursday, Oct. 15.

Freshman Kelsey Hollowell took charge of the scoring, making three goals for the Lady Vikings. Sophomore Alyssa Grabner and senior Reagan Valenzuela had the other two HNHS goals. Valenzuela and sophomore Shelby Bradford each had two assists.

The Lady Vikes took 29 shots on goal, and junior goalkeeper Kaylie Dunn had three saves.

Rice helps Lady Viking spikers finish regular season at 22-11

With 14 kills, Ashli Rice led the Huntington North High School varsity volleyball team to victory over visiting Logansport in five sets, with scores of 25-16, 25-19, 24-26, 21-25, 15-11, on Thursday, Oct. 15.

Crestview stops Riverview twice in volleyball

Eighth grade volleyball teams from Riverview and host Crestview Middle Schools faced off on Thursday, Oct. 15, with Crestview defeating Riverview in two sets, with scores of 21-25, 18-25.

For Riverview, top servers were Lindsey Foster, with seven points, and Maddie Klender, with six points.
Riverview's record dropped to 11-4 as a result of the match.

Seventh grade volleyball teams from both schools also played each other on Thursday, with Crestview defeating Riverview in two sets, with scores of 14-25, 21-25.

HCS eighth grade volleyball teams lose to Northfield,

The Huntington Catholic Schools' eighth grade volleyball team fell to Northfield in two sets, with scores of 15-25, 21-25, on Thursday, Oct. 15.

Huntington Catholic's seventh grade volleyball team also fell to Northfield in to sets, with scores of 22-25, 21-25.

In both matches, Rebecca Teusch had five points, Katelyn Niswander and Courtney Scher each had four points, Mary Simms had two points and Olivia Woolard had one point.

Riverview seventh-graders beat Edgewood on gridiron

The Riverview Middle School seventh grade football team defeated visiting Edgewood 18-12 on Thursday, Oct. 15.

Drew Fawcett had a 47-yard touchdown run, and Alex Beal had his own 45-yard scoring run. Derek Snyder caught a 44-yard pass for a third TD from quarterback Dustin Campbell to wrap up the scoring for Riverview.

On defense, Fawcett had seven tackles and one fumble recovery, Chad Champion took down five Edgewood players and Beal and Jared Bartrom each had a fumble recovery.

Riverview volleyball teams split with Justice

Lindsey Foster scored nine points to lead the Riverview Middle School eighth grade volleyball team to victory over Marion Justice in two sets, with scores of 25-6 and 25-19, on Wednesday, Oct. 14.

In addition to Foster, Shiann Creed had eight points and Maddie Klender had seven points for Riverview, now 11-3 on the season.

Riverview's seventh grade volleyball team fell to Marion Justice in three sets, with scores of 25-15, 17-25, 5-15.
Brianna Monroe had nine points for Riverview and Devin Powell had seven points.

Crestview volleyball teams top Salamonie

The Crestview Middle School eighth grade volleyball team defeated Salamonie in two sets, with scores of 25-14, 25-23 on Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Top scorers for Crestview, now 6-7, included Josie Beaver, who had seven points, three aces and three kills; Jessica Drew, with seven points, one ace and two kills; and Makayla Whaley, who had six points and six aces.

In the seventh grade match-up, Crestview defeated Salamonie in three sets, with scores of 25-21, 25-19, 15-9.

Crestview eighth-graders beat Huntington Catholic

The Crestview Middle School eighth grade volleyball team defeated Huntington Catholic in two sets, with scores of 25-17, 25-21 on Monday, Oct. 12.

Emiley Gray led the scoring for Crestview with six points and three aces; Kaylie Killian had six points and one ace, Molly Parker had four points, two aces and two kills and Maria Scott had four points, two aces and one kill.

HNHS volleybal team splits with Muncie Cental, Anderson

The Huntington North High School varsity volleyball team split a three-way match with Muncie Central and Anderson on Saturday, Oct. 10.

The Lady Vikings defeated Anderson in three sets, with scores of 25-6, 25-16, 25-15. But Huntington couldn't keep up with Muncie Central, losing that match in three sets, with scores of 18-25, 18-25, 10-25.
