Heritage Pointe hosts festival of trees this weekend

Heritage Pointe, in Warren, will host a festival of trees Friday through Sunday, Dec. 6 through 8.

Trees will be on display in the Fults Recreation Room at Heritage Pointe. Many traditional, department and theme trees will be exhibited.

Visitors can vote on a people's choice award, with the winner to be announced on Sunday. Light refreshments will be served.

Hours for the festival of trees are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.


Christmas program set at LDS

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold a Christmas program on Friday, Dec. 6, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Musical selections will be presented by the youth and other members of the church.

A living nativity, accompanied by a narrative from the gospel of Luke, will also be presented.

Light refreshments will be served.


Church to serve free Yule meal

Bethesda Free Will Baptist Church, in Andrews, will serve a free Christmas dinner to residents of the Andrews community on Saturday, Dec. 7.

The meal will be served from noon until 2 p.m. at the church, located at 116 S. Main St., in Andrews.

Santa Claus continues his travels across Huntington County with an appearance in Roanoke on Friday evening, Dec. 6.

Santa's arrival kicks off the town's Christmas in the Village celebration, which continues through Saturday, Dec. 7, and includes a petting zoo, community Christmas caroling and the performance of a cantata.

Christmas comes to Huntington in a big way this weekend, with Santa Claus arriving during Christmas in the City on Saturday, Nov. 30, and the official lighting of Sunken Gardens on Sunday, Dec. 1.

The Santa Parade starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Huntington County Courthouse and makes its way north on Jefferson Street, ending at The New Huntington Theater.
He'll be in residence inside the theater after the parade until noon to meet with his fans.

Santa's arrival is the kickoff to Christmas in the City, which continues until 1 p.m. in downtown Huntington.

Santa Claus is almost here.

The jolly old elf will make his first Huntington County appearance of the season on Friday, Nov. 29, in Warren.

The Warren Fire Department will escort Santa into the heart of downtown Warren beginning at 6 p.m. He'll hold a meet-and-greet at the corner of Second and Wayne streets overseeing the lighting of the downtown area.

The lighting ceremony will take place about 6:15 p.m.
