With four candidates on board, the race for the Republican nomination as Huntington County clerk is the most crowded position on the county-level primary ballot.
The incumbent, Fran Felts, has competition from two Huntington businesswomen, Stacey Elzey Bischoff and Kittie Keiffer, and the author of a political website, Gary Snyder.
The county clerk, officially known as the clerk of the circuit court, is responsible for many of the administrative functions of the county courts, according to the Association of Indiana Counties.

Huntington County Soil and Water Conservation District is celebrating its annual Stewardship Week April 25 through May 2.
This is the 55th year of the celebration. A proclamation was issued by the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD).
This year's theme is "Conservation Habits = Healthy Habitats," encouraging citizens, schools and communities to develop and maintain habitat areas using good conservation practices.

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Fort Wayne District will begin patching a portion of SR-16 began on Friday, April 23. Asphalt work will begin mid-June.
The SR-16 project limits are from SR-19 in Miami County to SR-5 in Huntington County. Funding for the SR-16 project is through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Huntington residents will see the return of weekly trash pickup in May, but the modified schedule - in place only on a trial basis - will include a change in the day most residents have their trash picked up.
"We're trying to make the public happy, because they're not happy right now," Mayor Steve Updike said in announcing the change on Thursday afternoon, April 22.
"We tried the every-other-week schedule, and it just wasn't working."
