Area Boy Scouts Logan Boyer, Alex Tolen and Logan Neuhauser are investing time and effort into community service projects that will help earn them the coveted rank of Eagle Scout.

Logan Boyer, 14, of Troop 302 in Roanoke, is planning to build a 100-foot boardwalk alongside a beaver dam currently being built at Chain-O-Lakes State Park. Boyer says the park staff suggested the project. New trails are being developed at the park and the area where he plans to build the boardwalk is too boggy for casual hiking.
